We are looking for an experienced Level Artist to join the Haven Entertainment Studios project team. The Level Artist will help bring life to the art direction while taking into account the technical constraints and gameplay intentions in collaboration with a team of multidisciplinary accomplished professionals. You will use your skills to create exciting player experiences and shape worlds that will take the visual quality of our game to the next level.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work closely with the art team and design team to create ambitious levels
  • Make sure that the balance between quality and performance is maintained
  • Block out the map to shape the level intentions
  • Environment dressing and sensitivity of the player experience and visual storytelling over everything else
  • Create and integrate assets aligned with the art direction and level design direction
  • Continuously work with design team to ensure an outstanding player experience
  • Have a strong understanding of level art creation workflows
  • Actively partake in internal play sessions to provide and implement feedback
  • Keep up to date with the industry trends and new tech and tools
  • Communicate efficiently with the different stakeholders and be mindful of dependencies that might create blockers or challenges
  • Plan work effectively and provide realistic updates on progress to managers

 

Experience and Skills Required

  • Strong modeling skills in line with current industry standards
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to accept feedback and adapt to change
  • Excellent ability to organize and prioritize your own work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the development team
  • Resourcefulness in problem-solving
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, display flexibility and adaptability through the many stages of production
  • Understanding of best working practices in terms of pipeline flow and game optimisation
  • Great artistic abilities and an excellent eye for interpreting reference and concept art
  • Ability to work within an established art style
  • Experience in level creation in a real-time game engine

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work with Unreal Engine
  • Familiarity with Blender, Photoshop, Substance Suite, Houdini, Gaea, SpeedTree, or other industry standard software
  • Gameplay and level design knowledge
  • Understanding of the technical considerations and best practices for Games As A Service
